Our Story

Krieg School of Historical Fencing started in 1999.  While the club is fun-focused, many leaders and members have gone on to successfully compete, and win, in tournaments worldwide.  Several have even started a few different clubs around the country!

Our bottom line is our leadership strives to provide personalized instruction on how to use swords effectively as a martial art and competitive martial sport.

Membership structure

Krieg School has always been a very cooperative environment to learn sword fighting arts.  As such, there's no strict leadership nor rules about who is allowed to excel to the highest levels of the art.  Because there are no living masters who specialize in our type of fencing, students are encouraged to deep dive into primary source materials from the 14th century all the way to the 19th century and facilitate focused study groups on those topics.  In our fencing, we prefer direct emulation gained though interpretating the materials written down by historical masters around the world, but we have a focus on European masters due to ease of access to the language.
